Question: Having a successful online jewelry and craft business...?

Does anyone have any expert advice on selling handmade items from home? I have a website and sell on Etsy.com, and just made a myspace networking page, but it is going slowly. I am going to post some cheaper items, because it seems like lower price points will do better. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Answer: Higher priced items will be more difficult to sell online if you are a small business owner, or an individual. The customers are more skeptical about return policies, what they will be recieving vs. what they ordered, etc.
Boost their confidence by offering guarantees of satisfaction, maybe you could 'pay for shipping and insurance' (keep this in mind when listing the purchase price)
have lots of nice, vivid photographs of the items, capturing from many angles. Let the light bounce off the jewellry and dazzle the prospective buyer!

Question: Artistic hobbies I could take up?

I'm really artistic, and when I was about eight or nine I took up Jewelry Making With Beads and string. They were really pretty too, but I gave up on that a long time ago.
I really want to be an art teacher one day, too.
Last week I made a cup out of clay at the summer reading program for teens. And I kind of enjoyed that, but there's probably something better for me.
I know how to make origamis, I taught myself offline and I have about twenty hanging from my bedroom ceiling.
I just want something that's really cool, I have a LOT of free time and I need a hobby to take up. And I like the artsy things. Just go crazy! Tell me the supplies I would need and level of difficulty and maybe how to do it, if not then I'll just google it.

Also, is knitting really hard?

Oh, and I made lip gloss one time. That was fun.

Answer: From my experience, it's kind of hard to learn to knit, but crocheting is a simple alternative. The string's worked with only 1 needle. All you need is some yarn and needles the right size for it
