Question: I have recently taken up rock tumbling and jewelry making as a hobby...?

So my question is, where can I locally find Alumina and Cerium Oxide (is that what it's called?)? Are there any other replacement grits such as sand or quartz that will work just as well? What are some good polishes?

Also, I was interested in finding wire to use for it. What is some good wire that won't depreciate the value of the jewelry? Not so much gold or silver wire, but copper maybe? Something inexpensive, but not invaluable wire is what I'm looking for. Thanks, any help is appreciated.
