Question: I want to start a small business selling handcrafted cards and jewelry at craft fairs.?

does anyone have this experience. what kind of money can i expect to see?

Answer: well, that depends on how good you are, how unique your ideas are and whether you are able to get to fairs where people like your stuff. There is huge competition out there.

Question: Does it matter what type of tools I use for jewelry making?

I saw an ad for four tools for only $ 14. 95
and then an add for a "bead beamer" (3 tools in 1) for 19.99$
What all do I need for tools to make bracelets and necklaces?
and is it pretty easy to "crimp"?
And what's a good wholesale site for lots of semi-precious stones?
Do you make pretty good $ selling in person, if your a jewelry designer/beader?

Answer: There are several tools that are absolutely necessary to begin making jewelry. First, you'll need round nose pliers and chain nose pliers. You may also want to invest in flatnose pliers. You will also need diagonal wire cutters to trim extra wire from your projects. Others, such as crimping pliers, split-ring pliers, and bentnose pliars can be purchased later if you find you need them.

Bead reamers are used to smooth the holes in beads so they won't cut the wire, and also to enlarge the hole of the bead. You may need this eventually, but I wouldn't worry about getting it right away--and you can probably get it for a better price than $19.99.

For crimping--you can use crimping pliers, but make sure they are the right size for your crimp bead/tube. Personally, I just flatten the crimp with my chainnose pliers.

I don't sell much jewelry (yet) because I don't have the time to devote to the business. I'll occasionally sell a piece to a friend or coworker, but I know others who have made a living by selling their work.
