Home Base Jewelry Business

Question: Home based business?
I am planning on starting a silver jewelry selling home based business. What would be some good tips for having a business of this kind?
Answer: A combination of 2 things:
#1 - Get a good website made up for you or do it yourself.
#2 - Plan to attend a minimum 4 to 6 major craft fairs each year in your area. This will help bring in extra cash while you are building your website sales and popularity.

Question: Starting a small business in NSW australia?
I want to start home based business importing clothes, immitation jewellery & other ladies fashion accessories from india. Do i need to register my business & where do I get financial help? Any website or suggestion. Thank you
Answer: I am presuming that you are already an Australian resident as you have mentioned nothing about moving here.
If you are going to trade under your name and not a business name there are times when you don't need to register a business but it is straight forward to and it at least lets you separate your personal income and affairs from your business. The link to NSW Fair Trading who you would apply to, is below in the sources.
You should also contact the ATO for an ABN and work out if you are going to be a sole trader, a company etc and any requirements or tax liability or concessions you may have access to: www.ato.gov.au
They have a lot of handy start up information for businesses, also try the website www.smallbiz.nsw.gov.au may be useful.
As far as financial help if you are receiving a Centrelink income support payment you could see if you are eligible for the NEIS program (pretty strict eligibility criteria) www.centrelink.gov.au
You could also check at www.ausindustry.gov.au to see if there are any grants currently available that you would meet the criteria for.
